Karla Magaña
Board Director
Karla has lived in Cashiers most of her life. Inspired by the supportive character of our community and the needs faced as a child, Karla pursued a career in social work. She received her Master’s degree from Western Carolina University in 2021 and right after graduation, she joined the International Friendship Center team. The IFC provides social services to the Latino/Hispanic population in the Plateau. Her role has given her the opportunity to work with several organizations in the area including Summit Charter School, Blue Ridge Free Dental Clinic, Albert Carlton Cashiers Community Library, Boys and Girls Club among many others. For five years, Karla also has served the community as part of Big Brothers Big Sisters. The program is a one-on-one mentoring program for children facing adversity. Karla loves our beautiful and quiet town, enjoys paddle boarding and loves staying at home on rainy days.
